Teaching Fun
And mad misunderstandings
I was a Primary School teacher for 20 years.
Last week, I learned I’d never be able to teach again.
I’ve been in sad crisis mode after the specialist confirmed it.
I loved 99% of my teaching career, especially with the little ones.
Kinder kids who haven’t been conditioned to conform to all the rules.
The eccentric free spirits who still believe the world spins around them.
The more egocentric the more enthusiastic and engaged students they are.
On their first day, most kids look about like Alice in Wonderland.
They’re so surprised they can barely sit down without springing up again.
Most Kindergarten children feel emotions far more intensely.
Happiness, sadness, fear, elation, excitement, tiredness, amazement.
Every emotion is ramped up, and all of them lack a self-imposed filter.
Late in their first year of formal education, I handed out a note to my class.
It was a Halloween Lunch Deal the canteen was having to celebrate the day.
But when they heard the word HALLOWEEN that’s all they heard.
