Message to the Brave
In the land of the not quite so free any more.
My opinion is overly simplistic given the protests coming in the middle of the pandemic of Covid-19 in the US. Especially as an Australian, safe and secure on my own property.
I have no right to comment on what is happening in America. But, if I could say something to the people of the United States who are going through some new kind of vile hell right now, it would be to:
Stay safe.
Keep grounded.
Please, wear a mask.
Strive for personal peace.
Police Brutality is rampant.
The media is not your enemy.
Realise all nations feel your pain.
The civil unrest is having a huge impact.
Racism is deeply entrenched in the USA.
Keep on believing that black lives matter — they do.
The colour of your skin shouldn’t mean a shorter life.
Rubber bullets are just normal bullets with rubber tips.
15% of rubber bullets that hit people end up killing them.
Keep the equal rights movement going strong, peacefully.
The citizens of the world don’t want to have you dying too.
Love the ones your with and be kind to the ones you know.
Resist the urge to violent protest over recent racial atrocities.
The systematic abuse of black people is a human rights abuse.
It isn’t good for your future or your job prospects to be arrested.
You need to stay healthy to continue this vital civil rights struggle.
