It must be serendipity, or Karma, or luck.
I’m about to go live with my own blog site and I needed to read this. My blog writing isn’t that impressive. It is very casual and all me and the birds I love, so I tick your authenticity box.
I too am or was what my famous writing brother terms a fame whore, checking out my stats and the number of claps I get on my Medium articles. I have just stopped doing that now; cold chicken. I think it isn’t something that is vital to me anymore.
My whole point of coming on Medium was to hone my writing skills so that I could have a successful blog, something I’ve been working towards for 2 years now. I’ve done that. Not that I’m giving up, I only realised, like you said, that writing is a journey and I really, really, really-weely want to enjoy the ride.
I’m determined to have fun writing and blogging and tweaking my ordinary style, even if the only followers are my family and a couple of beloved friends. (There aren’t that many who can be bothered reading beyond the twitter character limit, so my followers may be few.)
Now that I’ve read what you said I know that it doesn’t matter about claps or hearts or followers or stats or shares, likes or whatever anymore. Thank you to you and whoever else inspired you to write this post; I am truly glad that you did.
Thank you.
I AM WRITING AND I AM LIVING MY DREAM.
